Welcome to the St. Vincent Charity Medical Center Internal Medicine Residency
section of our website.  We have a great tradition of excellence in residency training in Cleveland, Ohio where we have been graduating internal medicine residents for more than fifty years.  We have trained hundreds of excellent physicians who were ready for the present and were prepared for the future.

Medicine has been evolving rapidly.  In one hand we are witnessing exciting technological innovations in all areas of medicine.  On the other hand we are feeling the pressure of social and economical forces more than ever.  The challenge of creating excellent, up-to-date medical education as we provide high quality patient care is one that confronts academic centers everywhere.

St. Vincent Charity Medical Center is fortunate to hold advantages of both academic and community hospitals.  Our academic approach lead by our outstanding faculty follows a comprehensive curriculum recommended by ACGME in all aspects.  Our residents are trained and evaluated based on six major core competencies of graduate medical education in US.  Our community setting supports our primary goal of comprehensive internal medicine education that will enable our residents to become competent and confident leaders in internal medicine.  It is not difficult to witness the results of our achievements.  Our ABIM certification rate has remained among the highest in the state of Ohio and in the nation year after year.

In St. Vincent Charity Medical Center our educational priority is to foster the development of critical thinking and to properly balance resident autonomy with adequate supervision to establish an independent decision making.  We are here to help our residents achieve their full potential.  We have placed teaching high on our agenda and serve enthusiastically in our roles as clinical and research mentors.
